Barbenheimer & Tony Bennett

Welcome back to the Cause Cinema Spotlight.

This is a very big week for the movie industry.  With writer and actor strikes in full swing, and theaters struggling to survive, we have two huge movies opening against each other.  As you may have heard, Barbie and Oppenheimer - aka Barbenheimer.  Stories, comparisons and memes abound, we’re hoping for box office bonanza, with two amazing films by master filmmakers.

On a sad note, we lost music legend tony Bennett this morning.  We’ll pay tribute with a wonderful documentary.

Let’s kick things off with a Best Picture candidate, by visionary directory Christopher Nolan.

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb.

Oppenheimer is now in theaters (and IMAX).

Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

Barbie is now in theaters.

And finally, we pay tribute to a musical legend, who passed away this morning, at the age of 96, Tony Bennett.

The Zen of Tony Bennett

Iconic musician Tony Bennett looks back on his decades-long career, sharing thoughts on music, art, and life in The Zen of Bennett.

The Zen of Tony Bennett  is on AppleTV, Amazon, and YouTube.

Be sure to check out this week’s Hollywood on the Green videos, as we countdown Christopher Nolan’s top 10 movies, and in case you missed it, we go behind the scenes with the Oppenheimer all star team and explore why it just might win Best Picture.

Hope you get to see Oppenheimer this weekend.  And if you can pull off the double feature with Barbie, we suggest you see the pink comedy second.  The spoonful of sugar will help, after seeing a movie that confronts the end of human existence.

Ending on a brighter note, we’re confident it’s going to be a great weekend for Hollywood and audiences across the country.
