Cause Cinema Spotlight

Deforestation, Blue Gloves & the Apocalypse
1

Welcome back to the Cause Cinema Spotlight, where I share 3 worthy projects, streaming on a variety of platforms.  I aim to highlight engaging, often inspiring, new or timely movies and series, and save you time.  3 projects, in under 10 minutes.  So let’s jump in with a new series on HBO.

The Last of Us

Joel and Ellie, a pair connected through the harshness of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal circumstances and ruthless killers on a trek across a post-outbreak America. Based on a successful video game, this post-apocalyptic drama was created by the producers of the Emmy award-winning Cherynobyl series on HBO a few years back.  They once again deliver strong production value, terrific characters, and powerful storytelling (Available Jan 16).

Next up two projects are not in the English language.  We will play audio trailers in the pod, but you can click links to see video visions below or CauseCinema.com. We’ll start with an award-winning documentary from Picturehouse and National Geographic.

The Territory provides an immersive on-the-ground look at the tireless fight of the Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people against the encroaching deforestation brought by farmers and illegal settlers in the Brazilian Amazon.  as I mentioned, this wonderful doc was a multiple-award winner on the festival circuit last year, winning two prizes at Sundance last year.  And it’s on the shortlist for Oscar consideration.

And that is a wrap for the Cause Cinema Spotlight this week.  I’m Jon Fitzgerald for Filmmaking for Change. And I Hope you get a chance to enjoy these terrific movies.

And remember, word of mouth helps many of these smaller films find bigger audiences.

Feel free to share the recommendations with your friends.

Be well.
