Spies, Swimmers & Killers

PLUS My Top 5 Scorsese Movies & Going Behind the Scenes

Welcome back to the Cause Cinema Spotlight.

This week, we have some amazing picks, new projects from award-winning filmmakers.  A new doc pulls back the curtain on a former spy, and we get a dark new masterpiece from one of our greatest living directors. And an inspirational tale starring Annette Bening.

Nyad

Sixty-four-year-old marathon swimmer Diana Nyad attempts to become the first person ever to swim from Cuba to Florida, covering more than 100 miles of open ocean.

Nyad was just released in theaters.

The Pigeon Tunnel

Filmmaker Errol Morris uncovers the storied life and career of David Cornwell, the former spy known to the literary world as John le Carré, whose experiences became the foundations for his work as a novelist and turned him into a bestselling author of spy fiction. Some of his most notable works include Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Night Manager, and The Constant Gardener.

Killers of the Flower Moon

At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal.

Killers of the Flower Moon was released in theaters today!

And in case you missed it, I counted down my Top 5 Movies by Martin Scorsese.

AND we went behind the scenes to hear from Scorsese, and the cast & crew.

And that’s a wrap for the Cause Cinema Spotlight.  Have a great weekend.
